Funny you say that as that’s actually what I’m starting to look into- I don’t know enough yet, and haven’t done one, but it’s definitely looking that’s the way I’m gonna go. I possibly have a line on a running/driving 4runner w/a rotted frame. The wiring is the part that has me most concerned vs an easy stand alone LS swap.
I’m think I’m more on the side of an LS swap. The 100 series cruisers with the 4.7 still get like 12 mpg with not a whole lot of power to show for it. Although it’s sad to Chevy a Toyota, I think it’s worth to throw LS in there. At the auto shop I worked at a few years ago I’d see tons of older chevys with 200k+ miles on them and they weren’t exactly taken very good care of by their owner. The most impressive chevy I saw was a 6.0 with 320k still running strong. It was a work truck used for a drywall business, so it wasn’t babied by any means.
