Hello everyone, my name is Gary and I'm new here. I've owned a few 80's in the past but this is my first 100 and I'm loving it so far. 180,000 miles on it and it drives nicer than any other 4WD I've owned.

While changing the oil earlier this week I found that the previous owner snapped a few screw heads off that held the skid plate (plastic) in place and that the rear drivers side tab was broken. I had to secure it temporarily with zip ties when I got done.

I have two questions: Is it okay to drive it for a while without that skid plate? It's my daily driver and I'm not doing much off-roading.

Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement? I've tried searching but so far unsuccessfully.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I took my "gunk collector" off a while ago. No harms come to me yet ;)

Good to see another Michigan member! Where in Michigan? An underbody shield can be ordered from some of the vendors that support MUD. I've had good luck with getting parts from Beno and a quick search will turn up his contact info (or here!)

I'm in Grand Rapids... I think I'm going to leave it off for a little while, and if i find someplace to take it off road I'll look at getting a replacement. Thanks for the reply!

I've had mine off for over a year, the part where the front two bolts go was torn off on one side and almost torn off on the other. When I have the money I'm going to order steel or aluminum plates.

Silver Lake State Park in the dunes is a blast! Not too far from you and worth the ORV permit and park sticker.
