I broke the vacuum connections on my PS valve during maintenance. Bypassing the vacuum circuit had no effect on my PS operating. I thought it was only a pressure switch to idle up the engine under heavy PS loads.

The PS seems to kick in if you rev the engine up a bit. Do you know if somehing is supposd to plug into it. Its the open round connected to where 2 lines run.

that valve has nothing to do with the operation.

have you recently F'd with it? msybe you crossed the pressure and return lines. Its possible to do, but you really gotta try hard to screw that up.

you got ATF or PSF in there?

you check the level of fluid in the res?

you got any whines comin from it?

your belt tight?

you check to see if the fluid is flowing?

Well, I really haven't changed anything on it and its been like this for as long as we've owned it. A rejected inspection has me looking for a way to fix it....

've topped it off with the Dextron recommended in the manual, unless the shop that did the work a few years ago put the wrong stuff in it... What would happen if that was the case? Its not leaking either.

The belt could be tighter but seems to be tight enough. Probably get a half inch or so of give when I push on it. There is a bit of whine (i guess sort of a whine) if you gas it when idling and turn the wheel.

How do I check that its flowing?

If it helps, the power steering feels like it on heroine when you're on a highway exit ramp...

**ive seen PSF cause seal problems. not what your describing.
also whines. but maybe it would cause what you describe.

%%thats tight enuff.

##open the cap while its running and youll see current flowin in there. as long as it's topped off.

$$since i'm on heroine right now, i know exactly what thats like.
