Storm that came thru tonight was more powerful than anticipated apparently, I now have water in my entry and dining room that traveled down the wall from the 2nd story! And it's still raining!!

I'm a newb when it comes to dealing with insurance, so I need advice on how NOT to get screwed, and recommendations on roofing companies, etc in the area if you have them. I have to call insurance to try and get the ball rolling, but let me know what you think, call me, whatever advice you have.

Thanks,
Jason

When I went through something similar, I had a contractor come out and look first. Then he was here when the insurance adjuster came out to look. He wants work so he'll point out all he can.

I have used RWR out of Lenexa on a couple roofs. Was happy with their work. If you call them you might ask if Jeremy Jones is available to come take a look at it.

Thanks gents, I'm not well versed in dealing with insurance crap, so nice to get some pointers. Gonna get some estimates from exeperts, go from there. But this water feature, no matter how soothing the sound, is not being enjoyed.

I would stay away from out-of-town roofing companies - we had our roof replaced by a local guy who did good work (wouldn't recommend him because of his customer service after), but not before one of the out-of-towners really screwed with us.

Might be smart to get two opinions if the first one is not 100% what you think it should be.

You will have to decide "do I want to claim the roof is all messed up" and try for a new roof, or "do I just fix the problem" either first or at all. I do agree that you got to find the problem first to keep the adjusters on track and focused for you. Sometimes they will understate the problem, too.

Let me know if I can do anything to help - - glad to come over and lend a hand as needed, etc.

Yeah, and thanks for your help Jamie, I contacted the company we spoke about. Have 3 different companies involved, and adjuster was very pleasant (we've been loyal customers over a decade, family longer). After the storm, and when it was just raining, there was no water feature.

So I've calmed down and can now focus on tearing the tacoma apart, so glad I refused to sell it, and live a short distance from work!

Phoenix restoration in stilwell is an insurance restoration company that does good work and has good customer satisfaction. they deal with insurance and then use their contractors to do the work. Also, you may have a guttering issue (without seeing your house) My brother in law has a guttering company, he does good work, I also know a local roofers that do good work I can provide numbers too if needed.
