My buddy here at work has a 1999 FJ80... maybe an fjz80? Not sure.

His starter is slipping and he wants to replace it but doesn't know where it is. He said he couldn't see it when he opened the hood

As he doesn't have the vehicle here today .....maybe someone could give me a clue to thje location so I can pass it on ? I'm sure it is not the same as my FJ62.

Plus a pic or a link to a pic/diagram would be nice if anyone knows where to find one. ??

Many thanks.

A 1999 ('98 to current) would be a UZJ100 (i.e. 100-Series) here in the USA. They have a petrol V8 engine with the starter in the valley between the cylinders.

The 80-Series were '91-'97 in the USA and came with an I6 engine.

Determine which your buddy has and post back so we can direct you to the correct place.

You need to request the mods to move your thread to the 100-Section.

Compared to the I6, the starter on the UZJ100 is a biatch to change out (or so I've heard... no direct experience.)

Yes it is a bitch to change out, you have to remove the intake manifold, tell him not to buy the normal POS parts store 6 month life expectancy starter for this app.
