Hi guys, my car is humming when I make slow turns, so I want to go ahead and start the PM projects. I called a toyota dealer around my place, the guy hooked me up witht he knuckle repair kit for $204, sounds pretty good right? But I'm wondering if it's any different from Jonesy's kits, anyone know the difference? Should I go OEM?
Can you guys chime in and recommend what I should be replacing to get the car back to baseline? Likely I will be getting some sort of discount from this guy so I want to purchase all the recommended OEM parts.

- fuel pump filter
- spark plugs + wires
- radiator hose kit
- belts
- stainless steel break lines (not available @ toyota)
-

Please help me with the list, if anyone local want to get something, let me know, I can spread the savings around.

Thank you

Personally I would baseline all fluids first:

Engine oil
Transmission fluid
Transfer case
Front and rear differentials
Radiator fluid (new belts, hoses and thermostat)
Power steering fluid
Brake fluid

Search here on mud for advice on each of these. The debate continues on conventional vs. synthetc - make your own choice.

After going through all the fluids, then you can start tackling bigger projects. Keep in mind, some can be combined, e.g. if you repack the birfs, you will have to replace the diff fluid.

Beno and CruiserDan (AKA CDan) are great parts resources here on Mud. They both give considerable discounts and have an amazing depth of knowledge on Cruisers.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks Boydmick, that sounds like a good starting point. The car have new belts recently, but I will get an extra set for emergency, same with the radiator hoses, I like keeping spares.
How about the big stuff? So far the car is running real smooth, I drove 600 miles the other day, that includes going up the grapevines on the 5 freeway. No issues were detected, but I did managed to hit a giant tumble weed at 80mph, that thing was as big as the front of the car. It shattered and put some scuffs on the bumper and hood :D

Along with the radiator flush and new hoses I would do the PHH, the heater control valve and the hoses to the heater control valve if they have not been replaced.

How many miles are on you truck?

218k, I think radiator was replaced recently, likely with new hoses, belts replaced, battery is new.
Knuckles are humming when I turn now, so I definitely will be needing that kit, thanks for the heads up fjc8871.
