From my research the oil pickup line in the 2uzfe is biased forward(i.e. its really hard to run it dry when going down hill), I really don't think that there is any way that the sump ran dry from the pics you posted. I would check other things like water in the coil packs or something like that. I really think that your engine should be good, I thought you were saying that your car was almost vertical! My bad!

Thought that but the valve cover didn't have any water or mud on it. Cool packs were dry. Is there part of the ignition that is below the valve covers? No distributor on these engines

I mean assuming this isn't your Daily Driver I would go through that entire front lower part of the engine bay and take apart the electrical connectors and clean them out and see if they have any water in them. I am really unsure of what could b wrong here man! I don't agree with Toyota that your engine is shot. At this point I don't see how it could be. Maybe take your air box off and confirm that no mud or water got in there. I don't know how mechanically inclined you are but if I were you I would just start slowly looking at the peripherals and seeing if I could find anything wrong. Check all the vacuum lines. I know me and many others will help you out with this. Whenever you get the car in take some pictures under the hood and engine so we can see how high the mud came up and so we can start to suggest connectors and vacuum lines for you to check.

He may not have that luxury, sounded like he had to fly home. I took a look at mine, and all the ignition related wires and such are above the cams as far as I could see. It didn't look like the mud got that high in yours.

If it will start and run, seems like it could be diagnosed a bit further, especially regarding the misfires.

Probably it is not your engine. I would suggest you borrow or buy a mini vci with techstream and get all the systems checked. The scanner will show you codes related to the issue, although the codes don't tell you what exactly is the cause of the misfire, you will know where to start. Or you can take it to another shop since the engine replacement doesn't fix the issue.

It's not my daily and It is 600 miles away. But that doesn't mean I can't get it back here relatively cheaply. Just need to get a trailer and go get it

I'm going to call the dealership today and ask them exactly what diagnosis they did. My guess is it isn't much. I'll ask if they want to spend the time to do a proper diagnosis and send me pictures etc. if not. I'll go get the truck and work it out over the next few months

So called the dealership. They said the engine isn't turning over anymore. They took out the plugs and still couldn't turn it

150k. Was on a road trip and it ran fine for 1300miles in 7 days prior

I pulled one of the plugs and it looked fine. I didn't pull all 8

HA! I think they have to be pulling your leg on this one man, bearings don't just decide to have metal flow and lock your engine up in a sitting car like that, unless they let one of the techs take it on a weekend family trip!(not unheard of) They probably have an engine in their warehouse they're trying to get rid of. Tell them to open up the lower end and see what is going on, its not that hard....

I have NEVER heard of a 2uzfe doing anything like this, besides the one I mentioned earlier that was run upside down after a crash.
