need gasket

I have a '66 FJ40 FST.
I need to make or buy the gaskets for the tailgate hinges and latches.
If you know where to buy - great.
If not, what material is best for cutting my own gaskets?

Hey you putting that thing together already ?

Some 1/8" sheet rubber will work you will have to cut your own just tell these guys what you need cut me a set too

but you can also grease these parts on the inside before you mount them,
that`s what I do ( for more than decade ) works great

........ you can also use an old bicycle inner tube to cut the pieces you need.

I used inner tube rubber about 3 layers you need about 1/16" of ruber I figure 1/8'' to squish down about half once bolts are tight, How about tail gate weather stripping any body come up with anything ?
I have Home Depot junk now.
I was thinking to install Rear hatch OEM Hardtop 66 -73 door W/S upside down and cut the side runs any thoughts ?

Interesting. I remember on my barn doors the weather stripping attached to the doors not the tub just like the front doors. I'll have to dig out some of my old SOR catalogs and see if they showed how it mounts. I guess I could check some of my own tailgates to see if there are any sign of weather stripping.

i believe this is on correctly.. the side that is "glued" to the tub was the more "unfinnished" looking side of the gasket.. and it fit nicely into the notch in the tub.. i could be wrong though.. works great for me.. would love to know the facts here.. maybe barndoors were different cuz they didn't fold down..?

I think you anwsered my question. The stock steel tub didn't have a notch around the back before the 1975 model with ambulance doors. The corners were just square. The hard top had a notch after the corrugated top but not the tub. If they would of have a notch it would be easier to update to ambulance doors on the earlier models

Interesting.... I guess I could check some of my own tailgates to see if there are any sign of weather stripping.

Pretty sure the gasket isn`t factory (same on tailgates)
My BJ43 (ambulance softtop doors) never had gaskets at the rear half doors.
