I'm planning on using Durabak on my floor/wheel wells. After spending all day with a propane torch and a scraper, I've got almost all the old cheap bedliner off.

1. Would you take it all to bare metal to put down the durabak?

2. The plan for the exterior is tan. The seats are black. I'm thinking about doing brown durabak for the floor instead of black. That should look ok right? I don't want to regret my color choice. I ordered a sample color chip and I'm still undecided. I figure if its the color of dirt, it should look cleaner. Anybody use the brown and how did it look?

3. I've got some holes that previous owners have drilled into my floor. What's the best/easiest way to fill them? They are about 1/2" in diameter

I've used durabak in the past with good results. If you're looking to match the color try using SEM's liner kit. It is tintable and is just as good if not better than durabak. As for stripping it to metal before applying the liner, I would put some sort of epoxy or etch primer onto the bare metal. The liner goes on thick, but that's not to say it will STAY on the surface forever. So if it does happen to peel/chip/flake etc. off you have a good primer underneath. Also call the manufacturer before applying to see what they recommend. I know when I ordered my durabak it came with a tech sheet and it said it may not adhere to certain epoxies. I scuffed up the epoxy and shot it anyway. It never peeled in the three years I owned it.

As for the holes, I would rosette weld them shut. Filling in a 1/2" hole with weld shouldn't be too dificult.

Thanks, I just ordered two gallons of brown durabak (one textured, one smooth). I plan to put down the textured first. Hopefully the smooth will make it a little less rough and less attractive to dirt.

I think the brown will look good with a tan/sand exterior. I like black, but it can really show dirt.
