I am trying to get a heads start in designing a custom flatbed for a truggy project.
Seeing how I dont have the truck yet to take measurements, its kinda dificult.

I can find the chassis dimensions for the older 1985 trucks, but I need the chassis/frame dimensions for 1989 - 1995 Pickups, and the 1st Gen. Tacomas (1995–2004)
Need both cuz I am not sure which truck I will end up with yet, I still need to read up on whether there is a reason to get a certain year over another.
My plan envolves getting an extended cab V6, SAS, dual cases, moving the rear axle forward to make it closer to a regular cab wheelbase, and fabricating the flatbed.

Thanks for the help guys.

Look in the FSM for the '93 pickup. There is a body/frame section with the numbers for the frame and standard bed and body mounting points. Look in the FAQ sticky thread at the beginning of the forum for links to FSMs. FSM = Field Service Manual.

Warning: The green pickup that is available as one of the community supplied models for Google's Sketchup has a third gen styled body with second or first generation dimensions. It isn't that far off, but you need to be aware of it.

Ah thanks so much, dont know how I didnt see that there before, guess I just wasnt thinking to look at the manuals.
Thanks.

Currently I am designing the flatbed in CAD, well, Draftsight to be exact, its free CAD. Really nice program.
But I am just doing it in 2D (3 views)
I have messed with Google Sketchup some, done a couple very simple things in it.
That program frustrates me, its the hardest to use most frustrating.... easy to use, software I have ever used. LOL
Just seems to spend more time trying to get it to do exactly what I want, than time spent actually designing.
