Anyone interested in going? I have to have a co-rider or I can't go. We would meet the group at denny's on bijou and i-25 at 9 PM, at pikes peak gate at 10:30, and up to the top to pick up the hikers at 11:30, then bring two hikers down after the fireworks. Let me know if you want to ride, going to be a very late night. :)

sounds like fun...bee careful!

So did you get to do this Luke? Sounded like the wind was pretty crazy up there!

Eric doctor and I ended up going up with the big horn 4x4 club. We took his fj60 because my 4runner's transmission was doing some crazy shifting that needs so be investigated. We were referred to as "the toyota guys" quite often. =)
The trip was a lot of fun. Those guys were hauling some tail up that mountain, I was impressed that 60 was keeping up. It was way spooky in places because there were still plenty of icy spots.
The wind at the top was brutal. I was wearing carhartt arctic gear and head/ face protection, and still got cold. It was all worth it to meet the big horn guys and see the fireworks that close. Really neat to see hikers and 4x4 guys getting together on something, normally that's cat and dog stuff. Saw a few sierra club patches, not my favorite group.
I'll definitely go again next year if they call, I'll know much more about what to expect next time.

Very cool!

Saw the fireworks with some friends, it made our night! Is there someplace to thank the guys who put up with 110mph winds? Was reading in the paper today about the wind and some guy got tossed pretty good.
