Wanted to free up a few ponies and the power steering used to get so hot crawling. So thought process was to move more air at low speeds. Still have stock fan and shroud.
Power steering gets hot no matter what. Do you have hydro assist? The option of moving more air at lower speeds is nice, so if you find a reliable fan that works well across the radiator surface area, go for it. How big is the mercury sable fan? Same as the Taurus fan?

Yeah it's the same, different plug but same size and CFM rating (if memory serves). I'll post up pics when I go that way. I got a piece of flat metal for the shroud that covers all of rad. Trimmed the stock plastic so that it is more or less just a mount to the metal shroud. Need to build a controller for high/low speed and thermo on, AC on. Also have a PS cooler to install so should help with keeping PS fluid at a better temp.
In the mean time think I'm gonna follow your recommendation go back to mech fan. Time here in SA is getting short and I know things are gonna get busy in the next few weeks. This will keep rig road worthy and allow me to catch up on a couple other little jobs.

You could always run a V6 radiator and run your power steering through the tranny ports....
^This. My aftermarket 4cyl rad also had the cooler ports as well.. not using, but still.

You know I didn't consider the v6/auto rad until after I purchased a new rad. A couple hrs back. Will most likely be the direction I go next time.
Yea I've had my auto radiator in my rig for years until I realized that sounded logically. So I hooked it up and good to go. Easy stuff.
