Below is a back and forth I had with tech support at DENSO regarding the amount of oil that is shipped with the 471-1166. The answer I got is the same as what 1972FJ55 said with respect to the amount of oil present in new compressors and not being able to completely drain them. The email string is in reverse chronological order. Hope this helps to clear things up. My system is all buttoned up and ready to be evacuated and recharged. I'll post back and let you all know how it goes. Good luck to the rest of you!

David,
Yes, the compressor does in fact come with 224cc's of oil in it, this was confirmed with the engineering spec sheet we have been provided for the compressors. Therefore, if you are doing a full replacement of the system you have enough oil in the compressor for a full system charge. Additionally, it is normal to not be able to completely remove all of the oil out of the compressor. So, if you were only able to remove 100cc's out of it, that is fine.
Please let me know if there is anything else.
Thank you,
Veronica

Hi Veronica,
I'm doing a complete replacement of the system. I'm replacing the compressor, condenser, drier and evaporator core. I want to know how much oil I need to add system. My system needs about 224cc. Therefore, I need to confirm that the new compressor in fact shipped with 224cc. As I have said I was only able to drain ~100cc from it and I want to know if this is typical. Obviously, I don't want to add too much oil to the system so I am looking for a good way to completely drain the oil from the new compressor to verify how much it has.

Dave,
Are you trying to equalize the amount in the system?

Hi Veronica,
I was referring to the new compressor.

Dave,
Are you referring to the oil coming out of the old compressor or the new one?

Hi Veronica,
Thank you for your timely reply. I have tried to drain the oil out of my compressor, per the installation instructions, and each time was only able to get about 100cc. Is this typical? I'm trying to figure out where the other 124cc is. Is there a volume of oil that typically remains in the compressor when draining it?
Thanks,
Dave
