Navigation problem ?

The problem: When I navigate away from the first page of thread on a multiple post thread, I am always "kicked" back to the first page. Regardless if I click the arrow forward or select an individual page(#2, #3, last, etc.) However, if I open a section main page that list thread titles, I am able to navigate to the next page and so on.? This happens on work computer and on personal computer at home. Any ideas for an ignorant computer user? Thanks in advance,

MS internet explorer and MS windows xp

ie, which version? 8? 6? IIRC, 8 is the current and has some 'oddities'

I use Firefox...and have for years
