keep the wheels narrower, 9-10" max. I have 33"x12.5 on 15x8" wheels (no SOA) and they are tucking i pretty good. I always thought 60 axles were narrow. never heard of this before, usually people want wider for both looks and stability...
Do you have a pic of your LC with the 33x12.5 on? I kinda have the same question as the TS (thread starter). I originally wanted 33x10.5 but it looks like i will be going to 33x12.5 on 8" rims. I dont want them to stick out of the ww at all. if you can post up a pic that would be very helpful.
cheers

My 35x12.50 on 8" rims: tire 'just' stick out from side of body...Not much, like just the sidewall buldge.

If you space your tire in, you may loose some turning radius...

i just changed over

i had some 15x8's with 4.5 b/s they tucked under just fine and looked pretty good, BUT! in the rear, under twistation of articulation the i believe the rear wheels would have been rubbin on the inner fender.and thats with 1/4 spacers.want to buy some 15x8's $150. shipped.practicly brand new! ;)

what about tires too :D

35x12.50s on 8 inch rims with the usual cruiser backspacing (just barely clearing the knuckle arm that is...) should tuck inside the fenders just fine. ???

They will probably rub the inside of the fender a little under articulation, but it won't hurt anything.

Mark...

Just as Mark said. Slight rubbing especially at turning and articulating. This shot is with 33x12.5/15 MTs on 3.5" BS, 15x8, wagon wheels from US Wheel.

so what is factory BS to begin with for stock rims?

I've not measured myself, but I think I remember seeing numbers near 3.3-3.4. I don't remember hearing about people having problems with 3.25, and 3.5s can work depending on how they're made or if you take a tiny bit of material off your calipers.

they are 15x8 with baout 3.75" overall backspacing. the wheels are 4" bs and I have .25" spacers all around. they tuck in pretty good under flex and the cruiser handles very well as is. IMHO, any taller though i would want a slightly wider track.

Unless you're doing a *very low* SOA conversion, I would really discourage you from a narrow stance. Wait until you're off-camber, you'll really want a wider stance yet. Besides, what good is the amazing flex provided by a SOA if you're going to limit it with tires that rub?

I have a low SOA and I'm having custom 15x8 with 2" backspacing wheels made, I'm going to be running 37's.

Good lord, there is nothing positive about that narrow a stance. Get some mud flaps/fender flares and call it good.

I'm about to slap 35x12.50x15s on my SOA 60 (I've decided 37s are just too much). Anyway, I was wondering if there's a way (through wheel backspacing or something else) to narrow the stance just slightly so that the tires are completely tucked under the wheel wells so that if viewed from the front or back the tires would be even with the body. I know it might be better to maintain a wider stance on a SOA, but I'm thinking out loud. THoughts?

with 35"s they will tuck in nicely. Don't waste your time or money on 40 axles; your truck will just seem tippy, and very likely, the wheels will not even clear the wells.

As far as 37's being to big, humbug. i run 37's on my 60 and they're perfect. :)
