After a lot of conceptualizing, I decided to take the plunge and modify my offroad trailer into a camper. I'm going to remove the tub/lid assembly from the chassis and start with the chassis only.

If anyone wants to by the tub/lid, let me know. It's custom and super high quality and has heavy duty bed liner, a drop down tailgate, a solid gas strut assisted lid, and a rack on the lid with a ability to tilt the rack up and store stuff like a table between the RTT and the top of the lid. Formal for sale efforts to come in a couple of weeks, but early heads up to the local guys.

But I digress. I just purchased a Wazat camping pod and am going to fit it to the existing chassis. This is basically a modified teardrop. Micro-Lite Trailers

They are made back east, but there happened to be a demo model in Sun City so I drove out and looked at it yesterday. The quality is amazing. It's built out of a welded aluminum frame with 1" insulation and skinned in aluminum. The interior is super roomy with space for a queen bed and the kitchen is huge in the back. I'm going to gut the kitchen area and make it better, but it's not bad to start. It's equipped with a shore power system to run the built in A/C but I'll get rid of the A/C as it uses the space where I'd like to put my Norcold. It has a sink in the back with 10gal tank and electric pump or hand pump capabilities.

When the rear hatch is open, there's an aluminum framed roof that extends out 6' to create cover over the outdoor kitchen. This is this demo model only as standard production units don't have the option. There is already some storage inside but it's so roomy that I can build plenty of cabinets.

The current idea is to put the Maggiolina on top which would make the pod perfect for storage and as a "dining room" and indoor kitchen when the weather is bad. My plan is to modify the kitchen so that it's accessible from the inside if necessary though it's primarily geared to be an outdoor kitchen accessed from the hatch.

This is the perfect solution for us as I have considered going to Sportsmobile but don't want to spend that kind of money. Plus, I really like the ability to leave the camper behind which gives us that "indoor" option when necessary but keeps us outdoors most of the time which is what we like. As many people have said before, it's critical to keep the wife engaged and comfortable and this will help that effort. I pick it up next weekend and will post pics.

Wow - to bad your tub isn't a M101 CDN - we could talk about the lid!

Look forward to pics!
