thanks to some of you guys here i decided not to buy a cheapo winch , and picked up a used warn , looked at alot of 8274's but most were trashed and the owners wanted too much , i like the way this winch sits down in the tray , full air flow to my rad .winch seams to work , powered it in and out and free spool works great , if i never have to use it i will be happy , just some peace of mind when i have my family with me , just need to pick up a little bit of rigging .

There ya go!

It's the same winch I have on my 60. Except mine is in my ARB and I had to mount it feet forward, so the winch is lying on it's back.

Someone painted yours black?

Did you take it apart and re-grease anything? I am going to do that too, but have never done it before.... so looking for info on that.

PS your pictures are incredibly slow to load. Wonder why?

i had to open up the solenoid cover and clean the contacts , warn lists this as not needing to be greased for servicing , the previous owner said he used it four or five times there was dust webs in the solenoid case it looks quite nice and shiny inside apart from the the dust and oxidation of no use it was spray bombed just where it had oxidized , i was thinking about spaying dieltic or contact cleaner inside but have yet to , i sprayed the roller fairlead with a lanolin based anti corosion inhibitor and the cable with some graphite and molly wire rope spray used for forklifts .

pictures should load up quikly are you on high speed or dial up ?

pictures loaded fast this time.... I cleared my cache to try it out. Might have a slow time on the Internet when I tried earlier. Me I'm high speed......never do dial up anymore. I'd rather have highspeed internet than tv, so if I cannot afford internet the tv goes :)

I will pull my cover to and see what it looks like.

Warn says that, but lots of guys on here have pulled them apart and seen water and rust. So it would not hurt to pull the cover on the gear end..........in the future.

i was at princess auto last night they have a snatch block rated for 8k vert 16 k horizontal looks similar to the arb one for $29 , i noticed they have a super winch that looks almost identical to warns xd9000i , for over a $1000 . i was wondering if i could use a cargo strap as a winch strap ? it is a big assed one , that the flat deck guys use its brand new .

Is the cargo strap rated roughly for 10k pounds? Also does it just have hooks on the ends or is there a way to put clevis on there?

I bought a tree saver from Princess, nice wide one for cheap too. It always pisses me off when I see on "extreme4x4" them not using tree savers, just putting the cable right around the tree. That show generally pisses me off. They need to improve the safety aspect, as they are showing a bad example.

I hate how they weld with no face shields, just turning away. Or with out gloves. I don't even spot weld with out gloves and a shield.

But where I work I get safety shoved at me non stop.

They all set bad examples:
Extreme 4x4 or almost everything on the "Power Block line up" as well as
Monster Garage
American Chopper
Biker Build Off
The list goes on.

At least on Extreme 4x4 they wear eye protection when they do anything in the shop.

true...

the muscle car guy is pretty bad too. He does the wince away from the welding slag.

jessie on extreme also is fairly bad at safety. And it is a little tiring when they have her posing doing something every once and awhile....
