I bought an absolutely mint 1 owner, 1 dealer serviced, no repair or accident Blizzard white 2014 Land Cruiser with 55k on the clock today. This truck is fantastic, and built like a tank. Looking forward to a long relationship. Everything seems to work, except ambient lighting. It appears that there are 2 ambient light holes near the sunglass holder, map light buttons. Those little guys are black, and there is no footwel light. Does this vehicle just not have lights there, or am I missing a setting. All switch backlights work fine, all dimmer knobs and menu options seem to work. Am I missing something?

No, those aren't ambient lights in the overhead. Just black plastic with nothing behind them. I installed an LED in one of those blanks and it turned out well. There's a write up here on this forum.

I have some left over LEDs if you want to do the same.

Yea, that’d be awesome. Seems like it would be a pretty straight forward task. Can you link the write up, or maybe I’ll look around a bit. I haven’t spent much time here, as I kicked around buying a great condition 80 series for a long time. I think I made the right choice though...

Just so happens, tonight my wife was saying how much she liked the ambient light.

Installed ambient light in overhead console



Pay special attention to post #5 about reducing the glare. You might recess the LED just a bit more than I did in my photos.
