九月初,我再次踏上沙漠之旅。上次沙漠之旅,我发现我的丰田陆地巡洋舰150的4.0升发动机动力略显不足。所以这次,我决定给它加点料——我装了一套基于伊顿核心的VT机械增压器,稳定输出1.3巴的增压。这并非什么极端的升级,但它能为沙漠驾驶带来恰到好处的额外动力。
为了支持额外的增压,我升级了更大的散热器和65°C的恒温器。有了适当的冷却,即使是外部增压器也能在高温和高负载下保持可靠——只要温度得到控制,一切就能保持平稳。
由于我专门为沙地驾驶做准备,所以一套合适的越野保险杠至关重要。在考察了众多选择之后,我最终选择了 BP4WD 保险杠套件。有趣的是,BP4WD 来自中国山西太原——我的家乡,我在那里生活了二十多年。
大多数人认为山西是煤炭、醋和面条之乡,但很少有人知道它也是一个重工业基地,拥有太原钢铁(TISCO)和太原重工(TYHI)等企业。凭借如此强大的工业基础,BP4WD产品坚固耐用、精准可靠、精心打造,同时易于安装、用户友好,也就不足为奇了。
我的悬挂系统和去年一样——Bilstein B8 5100。如果它们最终磨损了,我可能会换成 6112 + 5160。这次我专注于提高可靠性:我拆掉了后轮的空气弹簧,换成了 Eibach 1.75 英寸升降弹簧,同时将前轮的原厂弹簧调到了最高设置。
增压器安装完成后,变速箱需要一些时间重新学习。现在感觉很棒——动力传输平顺线性,我甚至还没意识到,就已经超速了。

In early September, I embarked on another desert adventure. On my previous trip, I found the 4.0-liter engine in my Toyota Land Cruiser 150 a bit underpowered. So this time, I decided to give it a boost—I installed a VT supercharger based on an Eaton core, delivering a steady 1.3 bar of boost. It's not a radical upgrade, but it provides just the right amount of extra power for desert driving.
To support the extra boost, I upgraded to a larger radiator and a 65° C thermostat. With proper cooling, even the external boost can remain reliable under high heat and load—as long as the temperatures are kept under control, everything stays smooth.
Since I was specifically preparing for sand driving, a suitable off-road bumper set was essential. After researching numerous options, I ultimately chose the BP4WD bumper kit. Interestingly, BP4WD comes from Taiyuan, Shanxi, China—my hometown, where I've lived for over two decades.
Most people think of Shanxi as the land of coal, vinegar, and noodles, but few know it's also a heavy industrial base, home to companies like Taiyuan Iron and Steel (TISCO) and Taiyuan Heavy Industry (TYHI). With such a strong industrial base, it's no surprise that BP4WD products are durable, precise, reliable, and meticulously crafted, while also being easy to install and user-friendly.
My suspension is the same as last year—Bilstein B8 5100s. If they eventually wear out, I'll probably switch to 6112s and 5160s. This time, I focused on improving reliability: I removed the rear air springs and replaced them with Eibach 1.75-inch lift springs, while also setting the stock front springs to their highest setting.
After the supercharger was installed, the transmission needed some time to relearn, but now it feels great—the power delivery is smooth and linear, and I'm revving before I even realize it.
