Nice. How did you get uhaul to rent you a trailer with such a lightweight tow vehicle? I tried it online once when I was looking at a 55 in the US. Of course there was no Safari in their system so I used an 80 as a surrogate. I was told it would not pass their 80% vehicle and trailer weight rule. Was the lack of an engine enough?

Local dude who does not care, Uhaul shot me down at first also.

Rob.... if you need the EDIC controller its yours. Just get me another whenever you find one.

So are you going to get that Cruiser "rust proofed" to the max??? Id be undercoating the hell out of it.

I bought a gallon of that Napa rust proofing wax stuff so if you want to use some just let me know.

Sweet rig. I love it. You gotta tell us what the plans are for it. Diesel conv for the road.... or wheelin machine? Must admit I'd wince seeing that thing rub trees and rocks on the trail.

rust free...? I don't understand...

wish I could find that pamphlet from toyota about the "Two Year Anti-Perforation Guarantee" I used to have...

Looks good tho, and I think the question is not IF it's going to be a diesel conversion, it's WHICH Diesel conversion is it going to get...;)

Undercoat is EVIL - you really want the Amber rust-proofing (the Napa wax-based) stuff or dripless oil.

You can also tell them its a 4runner and they will rent it to you.

Ya its getting a diesel from the blue bomber which has a decent frame. I think Jay will be getting the frame and axles for his extended HJ40.

Rust proofing will be extensive, pulling every interior panel and drilling the odd hole into the body to access .

It will be more of a groccery getter slash ski bus, turbo 3b, five speed, OME lift prolly.

I have the BJ42 which might become a little more of a wheeler.

Thanks for the offer on the controller, I would take you up on that offer. As for the rust proofing material, I will be buying a gallon and expect over the next few years to use it up on the 100 series, 60 and 42.

Thanks
Rob

1HD-T would be my first choice, second would be a turbo 1hZ and the engine I will be using is a 3B in the 84 BJ60.

Cheers

Wasn't your old 45 (somewhat) rust free? What ever became of that rig anyways? I remember you putting it up for sale right after I bought my 45!

It received a second frame off repaint from musturd to tan, 1hz turbo, disc brakes all around, tcase brake.

After it was finished I drove it for about 6 months, did a long run down to pismo beach for the big event. From thier George from Valley Hybrids shipped it across the country to its new owner in Boston.

One of the oldest Browns university Profs, Billy had JFK junior in his class back in the day....

It had a bit of surface rust and I did have to weld in a tiny bit of metal on one of the corners.
