Ok i'll check that in the morning.. I had my wife start/stop the truck earlier today and i dont remember hearing any click. I'll look into it..

One more question; what the hell is that blower lookin thing on the drivers side inner fender? it looks like a blower motor but doesn't have a duct going anywhere. I have never seen it work. What the hell is it?

It is a cooling fan the will come on after shut down if the under hood temp gets too hot. I suppose it is to keep the fuel rail cool so the gas doesn't boil and give a vapor-lock, but not 100%... I've only heard mine run half a dozen times.

Yes it blows air on the carb system just to prevent fuel boil off at shutdown in high temp. Several Threads on in here.

X2. I have had my rig for two and half years, and just assumed the fan didn't work (fairly common I hear). It had never been an issue so I didn't care. Then this past fall, out hunting, we had come back to camp mid day for some lunch before the evening trek, and out of the blue it kicked on. I have heard it just a few times since then.

that's funny. i hear that d@mn fan running practically every time i get out of my truck. even during the winter months.

I wonder if the 62 is set up differently than the 60, being fuely as opposed to carb.

X2...
Mine comes on without fail approximately 3-5 min after shut down...
Its just a normal thing to me anymore!
If it doesnt run i get worried!

still haven't heard the blower.. Oh well.

I adjusted the valves yesterday. What a pain in the ass. It's done and over with and they sound much better. I need a valve cover gasket as this one is beyond trash. The valve train was covered in crusty carbon deposits.. I mean covered.

Whats a good way to clean that crap out?? I have thought about dumpin 1-2 quarts of atf in it, driving around for a few days and changing the oil. Anyone done it or reccomend anything else?

It's never leaked a drop of anti freeze till last night. It's begun. I guess i'll order some hoses, thermostat and a temp gauge sender when i pull the radiator out. is there a common place that they leak? It's probably got 20 years of junk build up in it anyway, so i dont feel bad about having it gone through.

the radiator hoses look ok, i bet they are no more than 5-6 years old but the rear heater hoses by the transfer case scare the crap out of me.. They are terrible.

I live in a place that hits 115* so cooling is a must. The fan is comming on and it's only about 70* right now, is this normal? it doesn't free wheel very well. It's pretty tight, I'll look into this today

I usually hate doin matinence on my stuff. I do it but i'd much rather modify and build than change hoses but this thing is kinda fun. The speedo lube trick worked very well and only took about 5 minutes.. It was kinda fun.

Now i'm on a mission to clean the everything as much as possible, it already looks different from when i bought it. I want to restore everything to spec and do all the missed maintainence so i can do a spring over and not worry about anything else. This is a blast
