99.999% sure its a loose rear pinion and or u-joints. mine did this exact thing when i first got it running. tighten up the pinion and check/replace the u-joints. should be no problem.

yeah thanks ghen. the u-joints dont appear loose at all. i am going to try and get the correct size socket and really tighten it down well and see if the noise goes away... if not jp let me borrow his spare differential to see if that is the problem.
