The WFO shackles that I used on my 63" conversion are 6" long. Never felt like I needed them to be longer, but mine is more of an explorer, pre-runner, and desert racer chaser - most definitely not a crawler. I used the over-loads off of some of the springs gathered but never used for the now ancient Mazda spring swap, turned upside down, along with the longest 4 leaves from a 5 leaf GM spring pack. I carry a 'glass shell on a full length short bed that is always loaded with camping gear, so I need that 4th leaf. The upside down O/L keeps the springs from kinking on the spring perch on those times when I make the SOB bump stops work to their limit.

Placing the WFO shackle hangers directly behind the OE shackle hangers worked perfectly for me. I've seen some guys make slider ramps for the front mounts. One mfg of those front mounts makes them directional (Ruff Stuff?) so that the ramps are basically built-in.
