would the lack of an amp meter gauge be a reason for improper charge to the battery? the reason i ask is becuase since ive had the truck it has never had the oil or amp guages that are located on the bottom by the shifters and i have always had the problem of a dead battery whenever i use lights windsheild whipers, stereo, lights, auxilary lights at once. or any one of those combinations.
 
lack of gauge has nothing to do with performance.

you can take your truck to a parts house like autozone, and they can test the charging and starting system for free.

sounds like either your alternator or voltage regulator is bad.

I say voltage regulator cause I assume its an early truck, based on what you say about the two gauses below...
