Nice Jes!

Can anyone tell me if McMurtry Live in Aught-Three is one of his better albums.

I want to hear some more of his music but don't know what to get.

Suggestions please.

McMurtry lives here in Austin. He's a pompous ass and well known jerk. Not sayin' his music is unworthy, but I can't stand the guy. I know, that has nuthin' to do with enjoying his albums.

Carry on,

Quoting myself. That's a first. :o

I apologize for buggering up an otherwise excellent music thread. In the way of an explanation, there are literally hundreds of musicians living in and around Austin, many of them fairly well known. Those I've encountered have been, with rare exceptions, very much down to earth "regular folks." That list of good people would include Robert Earl Keen, Joe Ely, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Pat Green, Butch Hancock, Slaid Cleves, Caroline Herring, Carrie Rodriguez, Jerry Jeff Walker, and the late, great Townes Van Zandt. McMurtry is one of the exceptions, which prejudices my opinion.

Here's a bone for ya...Carrie Rodriguez:

and again with the great John Prine...

JJW was an ass both times I met him. So much that I doubt I'd go see him live again. REK, class act.

Walker is a dick, no doubt about it. My wife's law firm hired him last year to give a private performance during some company big-wig function. $5K for a 30 minute set. He showed up late, along with his wife and son Django, high on something, and couldn't remember the words to the second song. Finally his son went up and finished the set for him. Actually Django did a very fine job.

Supposedly JJW cut back on the booze and drugs several years ago and is trying to rehabilitate his asshat image. It ain't workin'.

Yep, Keen is the complete opposite.
