Lillah (18 month old German Shepherd) and I started Friday night about 6:30 PM 40 minute trip from home in Las Vegas, parked at the North Loop Trail Head hiked up the first thee miles set up camp in the dark about three hundred yards off the trail.
What Beautiful Night no wind at all clear sky about 60* amazing Crescent Moon Rise. next morning cashed 50% of my gear we started for the peek at Cave springs we filtered water and filled water bottles and about half way up we cashed half of the water, at Devils thumb noticed a Thunderstorm Coming in from the north we precede on crossing paths with a ten person group of Metro Search & rescue on a fun hike that had just come off the peek and were going down.
We went on for another half mile or so started up the last series of switch backs thats when the thunder storm building and lighting coming in our direction became more of a threat and lillah had drank more water than I,d figured Short of water Lightning, @ about 600' from the peek we turned back. walked back to the trail head mostly in the rain. Great hike any way.... Thought I'd Share some pictures

Nice pics!

I love that trail. The wife and I made the hike up there. I wanted to shoot photos of her with the bristlecone pines at first light :D We left Vegas before 5am, made it up there and hiked up to over 10,000' just as the sun was starting to rise. We did a bunch a killer glamour/nude pics.

The place is amazing and I love all the thunder storms that roll through there. We also hiked back in some rain.

Fun times!
