I wanted to camp Friday and Saturday, but the :princess: works on Friday, so we will probably head out Saturday morning.
My plan was to camp Medano Pass Friday night and head to the trailhead in the AM on Saturday. Then camp at the lake Saturday night and head back down on Sunday.
I guess I could camp Friday night, then go home and get her. Or just leave her at home.

i would be down for camping up there! it looks like a sweet spot! anyone else want to join us on Saturday night at the top?

I am planning on camping at Lake Como Saturday night.

Maybe head down Friday evening, drive over Medano Pass and camp by the Sand Dunes?

I will be in the area and would like to head up there on Saturday...i am new to the area and would like to have some "backup" when taking on Blanca. When/where is everyone going to meet?

I am planning on being at the trail head at 9:00am and heading up the trail at 9:30am on Saturday. I will be heading over Medano Pass Friday evening and camping by the Sand Dunes Friday night. I hope to be playing on the Sand Dunes at 7:00pm Friday night.

I'd like to come. But honestly, after looking at some pics on TrailDamage, I'm not sure I have enough truck (or driver!) for it. What do you think? Again, it's an 80, 33's, 2" lift, front & rear lockers, sliders.

The "Notices" header at the top of all the web pages on IH8MUD indicate that some information was lost.
Normally I just blow past these headers because I think they are annoying but in this case it did let me know that they had to restore a backup to the website.

I did Medano pass about a month ago, but i started from the Sand Dunes side...very sandy along the bottom, but it quickly turns to a typical trail that is moderate at worst.

I will plan on meeting you and others?? at 9AM at the trailhead...how many are going up this time? With 35's, sliders and lockers i am hoping that i won't trash the LC...;)

Sounds like we could between 5 and 7 rigs. The rigs that I know of that are going are my FJ60 with 36's a Bronco (Mike) with 37's a Jeep (John) with 33's one FJ40 (Vic) with 33's and an FJ40 (Trevor) with 37's and one Landcruiser (Don) waiting see which cruiser Don will bring and one more Toyota (Kyle) with one of his rigs.

Eric?
Justin?
Luke?
Others?

I would like to tag along, but I don't think I can get there in time...

I want to make this run next year sometime on a grand road trip. How rough is it on a 40? SBC H55/36's locked f+r/4" SUA be OK? I have land by Ft. Garland to stay on and I am not sure how much time to plan for this leg.

How much trouble is a carb on the climb? Both angles and altitude?

thanks for any insight you can provide.

Bret, I cannot imagine you would have any trouble with the 40 that you described. This is my first Blanca trip so I don't have a real frame of reference. I can tell you, though, that my 40 has no trouble at all on Holy Cross, with SBC, Muncie 465, ARB's F/R, and 4" lift. Others would need to comment on your carb, as I have TBI.

If anyone wants to convoy with me, meet me at the McDonalds in Pueblo (just west of I-25 on US 50) at 6:00 - 6:15 on Saturday morning.

I see that the directions were deleted. I remember ( I think) that someone said that the turnoff is on Hwy 150 3.2 miles N of Hwy 160, and the parking area is approx. 1/2 mile up that road. If this is not correct, would someone please reply.

There will be two other rigs coming along with me. Brent and Frank will drive their locked and loaded Forerunners (35s and 37s), well prepared for the rough stuff. Once again, it looks like I will be the Little Dog!

Gary C. will ride with me and will take many pics of all the rigs, then post them on his web site where we can grab them later. Vic

Driving directions from TrailDamage.com

From Denver, take I-25 south to Walsenburg, then take Highway 160 west. Before you get to Alamosa you will turn north on Highway 150 following signs to the Great Sand Dunes. Road 975 is on the right, about 3.2 miles down Highway 150. Drive a little way down this road to find a large area to air down and leave trailers if necessary.

Damn ... not going to be able to make this anyway :(
Have fun guys.
