I've got to have a free wheel homie. No fixies here. My MTB is actually a decent commuter with the 29" wheels. I just need a spare set of wheels for some skreet tires. After Katrina, riding road skinnies on our streets is asking for a serious case of road rash. I'm shooting to have another 29er built up in about a year, then I can go big ring up front on my 1x8 for true commuter style.

Do you MTB any? I hear Jackson has a nice set of trails.

tcb- Are you near the coast?

I ride a 29 MTB converted to my road bike just by changing the tires to 700x28 cyclocross tires. I also have a 29er for off road riding. Perhaps we could ride sometime if you are close.

Some friends were just in Jackson last Sunday for an off road race, I could not make it though.

Jes- Good luck to you. Very cool of you to ride for a good cause. I am not ready for 150 miles yet. I think I too would need an even more road friendly bike than my current road ride before taking on 150 miles.

Cheers,

Yeah, man. I'm in the GPT. I hit bethel last weekend with a group of guys from New Orleans who ride every Sunday AM. It was a good time. 5 of us. My legs are still smoked. But I'm game if I'm not working and I am in serious need of some cycling buddies that are local.

Here's my thread on mtbr looking for coast riders:
Anybody on the MS gulf coast? - Mtbr.com Forums

Shoot me a PM when you get a minute and let me know when and where you typically ride or hop on the mtbr thread. I post as tha1000 over there, but the monkey theme is the same.

Let's ride

Sweet, a fellow cruiser/mtb-er. I know it is short notice but we will be riding bethel today after work. We plan to do one day loop and one night loop. Do you have lights? If not, we may have extra. I will PM my #.

No lights outside of a ghetto fab flashlight mounted to the handle bars for commuting before the sun comes up. Sub-par for Bethel. I've got to change a tube on my bike today after work, but I might get out there for the first lap. Don't have 2 in me tonight.

Well I didn't carb load for nothing.

Full ride report on Sunday.

Finished. My team raised almost $10,000. I put in $507 with y'alls help.

We had a pace line of 13 cyclist today. Avg speed of 18mph over 75 miles is moving. I was charged to much to have my handlebars wrapped at Indian Cycle on friday and they came unwrapped 30 miles into the ride. They will have one good chance to make me happy or they will face my wrath.

Other than the sheety wrap job it was a great ride for a great cause. Will do it again.

Thanks for everyone's support, Jes

good job Jes!

I guess them Boys from Indian Cycle roll their handle bars all wrong.:D

Good one Chris!

Y'all asked for it

For your viewing pleasure.

The lady in black is the wife of the man who we rode for. She met us outside the finish line and led us in. As we followed her in and saw the looks on the faces of the families we were riding for, our legs were no longer hurting. Our butts weren't sore. We weren't even tired. It was all worth it. Thanks again for everyone's support. Jes

I rode a couple of years ago in a MS mountain bike race....... really eye opening event.

That attire just isn't in road biking, I offroad in those lycra shorts. But instead of a bike helmet, I wear a wrestling mask.

Bring the mask to the Crawl.
