Need to mount a Yaesu FT2900R in my 99 Land Cruiser and need some ideas. Have seen one in the console and mounted in the dash with an aftermarket stero.
Don't want to get rid of the factory radio and would be concerned about heat in the console. Rather not mount overhead either. Hope someone might have a good idea about mounting without having to use a sawsall and sledge hammer.

I know I should've given the radio more thought before buying but didn't and now must figure out how to do this and not make it look like heck and still have a nice installation.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Lots of folks using the 2900 (or it's predecessor the 2800) in older Cruisers; maybe not so many in 100-series? I've never owned or worked on a 100-series but I'd guess you have the same choices as most other wagons, but you seem to have rejected the most common ones already. Maybe some photos of your interior would help?
