Ok, heres the jist-The shop I work at has a 98-03 Cheverolet Blazer that has been rolled. The engine, trans and transfer case are all intack. My boss said that when it came in on a wrecker they could start it and run it. Trans is an automatic and it never had any problems when it was driving. Trans is the same works fine no problems. We can do the swap at the shop during spare time and after hours. He only wants $650 for all three and I have a guy that wants to buy my 22RE out of my runner. My question is, is it worth it? I have a pretty limited budget and don't want to get into a place where I have nothing but problems. What will I need? Where can I get parts? Is this a good idea or should I just spend some money and get my my motor cammed and rebuilt? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

give us a little info on the truck and how you intend to use it.

I have a 4.3 vortec (94blazer) in my 4 runner and love it. It isnt to bad of an install and I love the power to size. There will always be a lot more money spent than you plan on. Big exspenses are the t/case adapter, miss. pieces to work the tranny, cooling, etc. Downey off road has good info but what they say isnt always the fact like they make it sound. If you do a fair amount of highway driving...make it happen it is so much better. If not the 22re with some mods and gears would be great (as you know). Hope that helps. Oh yah check the usuall things you would normally on the 4.3. Compression (no sense in buying a motor that needs a rebuild) look for coolant in the oil. I looked at one and the intake gasket was leaking right into the oil pan. One other thing if you do it try to keep the blazer as long as you can it comes in handy for wiring info and you never know what you might forget to grab when pulling out the motor etc.
