Meet at the Coyote Coffee Den ( Coyote Coffee Cafe - https://www.coyotecoffeecafe.com/ ) in Penrose, arrive by 9:00 leave at 9:15 and then drive Highway 50 to the Texas Creek Bridge across the Arkansas river.

NOTICE, Texas creek area requires an OHV permit for all vehicles. You can apply here: Register an Off-Highway Vehicle - https://cpw.state.co.us/register-off-highway-vehicle It took me 18 days to receive the permit in the mail. I would recommend that you buy the permit at the CPW office. As a motivation to get your OHV sticker, the sticker sales are used to perform trail maintenance and repair in the BLM and now including Forest Service roads. The list of roads required to have a sticker is increasing each year.

Optional is to then drive in the Banks, Penrose Common etc. as time and motivation permits.

Remember to bring a GMRS radio (we use channel 15-0), recovery gear, coffee and snack or lunch.

Four of us came to the trail ride yesterday driving a 60, two 80s, and a 100. It was a relaxing time as we stopped a lot and did pretty much nothing, followed by short periods of driving. SAS camped and continued mapping trails and campsites for a publication. The other three of us went to the Royal Gorge on the way home. The highlight was riding in one of the gondola cars with the new glass floor.
