Mississippi Guitar
Festival 2006
From The Director

It is my pleasure to invite you to the 5th annual Mississippi Guitar
Festival. This years festival returns to its origins at Belhaven
College, where it began in 2002. The idea of having a regional
festival was first suggested by Dr. Miroslav Loncar of William Carey
University and has grown to include 5 colleges from the state of
Mississippi. This year we welcome Nicholas Ciraldo of USM,
Hattiesburg as the festival’s newest faculty member. The artist
faculty from various instituitions in the state of Mississippi will
present lectures and masterclasses intended to challenge and expand
students knowledge of the guitar. Players of all levels and
backgrounds are welcome at the festival. The theme of this years
festival is Building a Musical Community. It is the my conviction
that music belongs not exclusively to the professional, trained
musician but to serious amatueurs and passionate fans. It is our
desire to provide a festival program which will simultaneously be
challenging to the aspiring professional and accessible to the serious
amatueur. This years guest artist will be Adam Holzman of UT,
Austin, who will perform a concert Wednesday evening and give
a masterclass Thursday afternoon. We look forward to seeing you
in Jackson! -Barry Hause

I'm gonna do my best to make it for some of the times. Commitment on Wed night.

I know how much you have put in to this and I really appreciate you makeing the SCC in spite of the efforts to get this together.

Just in case you are behind on the planing and are short on material:
Here's a website with 100 versions of Stariway To Heaven :grinpimp:

I considered engaging Mr. Vicious as our main guest artist but he failed to meet the prerequisite of being able to play guitar.

Besides which, he was already dead of a heroin overdose.

Thanks, Barry. I saw the concert advertised downtown. I am in Manhattan and don't know when I am coming home. I just heard on the radio that Guns and Roses (reunited) are playing up here, along with Kings X and a plethora of hairbands, perhaps this wknd. You can't blame me for staying if indeed they are.

Barry hope all your hard work pays off this week like working all summer on your 60 did last weekend.

Barry,
How did your concert go?

Chris

Holzman was an outstanding guitar player. First time I've had the pleasure of hearing someone of that caliber in a live performance.
