ok, its another mileage thread. but im only getting around 150-160 miles on a tank, id like to at least squeez 200 out of it if not more. it seems to me just from observation that its getting worse, because a year and a half ago when i got it i was getting 180-190 a tank, but i cant really remember. so if anyone has any suggestions on what the problem may be, im all ears.

You really can't just go by the miles you're getting between fillups, it may be a faulty gas gauge or tank float. Start tracking the number of gallons of gas you're buying at each fillup, then calculate the MPG.
My '87 pickup only goes about 180-200 miles per tank, but it will only take ~12 gals to fill the tank, and it's an 18 gal tank. By the time I correct for the larger tires, I usually get about 20-21 MPG.

alright, ill try that. its an '89 FJ62 on stock tires
You should be geting at leat 10mpg, and as much as 16+ depending on all the variables stated above, and on other thresds.

wow, ok, ive got around 190400, ill try some more observations and calculations and get back to you. it might be my gauge as well, I was thinking that.
Borrow a GPS. you can see what's up with the speedo and ground covered, in straight line, compared to the instrument readings.
I know this may seem high, but i get about 280 miles to a tank with my 84 FJ60 landbriuser. No matter what i do, AC on of off, towing something or not, in 4wd or not, i get between 13 to 16 mpg.
i recently replaced my carb with a rebuilt one from these guys..http://carburetorexchange.com/... and my LC runs better than ever.
