1993 cruiser ,locked, arb'd,ome---175,000-runs just as good as my 04 cobra(although not as fast :bounce: ), the only repair i can tell that ever went down was the radiator like new

1994 FZJ80:
Bought in 2001 with 124K miles. It was cherry, mainly highway miles for the soccer mom owner to go skiiing. Now has 149K. Lots of PM done by me. As for problems:
- slightly leaky spark plug tube seals (have replacements sitting in the garage someplace, I'll get to it eventually)
- Birfs started clicking after I had it a few months, swapped them side to side and problem solved!
- rear DS door sensor for dome lights is intermittant (so trivial I never bothered fixing it, and probably never will)
- now appear to have faulty rear difflock sensor (i.e. rear diff positively locks, but indicator light continues flashing) - fairly trivial, will get around to it when I have some time
- oil pressure gauge appear to have gone out (don't think it's the sender)
- windshield wiper fluid diverter valve appears to be going out
- lost the "D" light on my shifter :D
NO MAJOR PROBLEMS!!!

2004 UZJ100:
Bought new in 2004 with 8 miles. Now has ~6K miles. No issues of any kind (of course)!

anyone want to update their posts?

how 'bout a new post

black 96

bought used from owner of a construction company in Nashville TN back in Jan 04 with 186,000 miles,

had light hail damage on roof and hood, & seats cracking from age, but it was his DD and as far as I could tell was well maintained.

I had to replace starter shortly after I got it (first replaced the contacts then discovered the starter clutch going out too) just over $200

check engine light off and on code 420 or 402 or something

put some nice used 285/75 ta ko's on at 197,500 miles

transfer case and differentials on M1, tried synthetic in the engine but it used too much oil.... back to dino oil for engine

may still change transmission to synthetic

a year and a half later (and a bunch of $$$ for fuel) it has 231,000 indicated miles on the odo (corrected miles estimated to be 236,000)

still kicking myself for not getting locking diff's

thinking about going back to stock tire size.

need to check valve clearance & tear into egr

How long will our Landcruiser last?

We bought our 1994 Landcruiser new. It now has about 130,000 miles on it.

We have had all scheduled maintenance done on time (everything other than a few oil changes has been done by Toyota). In addition, we have changed the oil/oil filter/lube every 3,000 miles without exception. We do a little (maybe 10-15%) city driving, and the rest is freeway driving (no off-roading).

We had a couple of minor brake jobs, and only "routine" maintenance items through 2002. The car was essentially "trouble free."

In 2003, we replaced the brakes (front and rear rotors and brake pads). Both front wheel bearings were replaced in August 2003. The transmission was flushed in 2003.

We had a radiator coolant leak in September 2004 - replaced the water pump, thermostat and coolant, and radiator assembly; we also replaced both rear shock absorbers.

In the last two months, our "check engine" light has come on twice - a different sensor each time (code 28 02 sensor heater circuit malfunction each time - first sensor 01, then sensor 02). We also had to again replace the front and rear brakes, and resurface the front and rear rotors, and repack the bearings.

Question: I see that many of you have Landcruisers that have many more miles than we have - how long can we reasonably expect this car to remain reliable? We really have tried to take very good care of it. We have started to worry that, given its age and 130,000 miles, we will start to see major problems occuring frequently.

Any advice as to projected longevity - and what major repairs we are likely to face - would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much!!
