I just bought a pair of handheld Midland GMRS radios (GXT1000G) and used them for the first time last weekend. I was out wheeling in the Texas heat (not Fall yet down here) and after a while when I went to use them the screen would be blank and they would be inoperable (power knob on top still turned past the click to the on position). It was hot in the rig with no A/C and they were getting direct sunlight through the front windshield. If I turned them off and back on the display would flicker on for a second and then go blank again. If I put them away for a while they would work fine when I turned them back on.
I'm guessing that there is a sensor in them that shuts them off when the get hot to prevent them from overheating. Has anyone else encountered this type of issue?
