we had a look at a 2001 way back when that had the Toy certification done and extended warranty and it had tires one size smaller than OEM...

The Pilot LTX M/S appear to be an 18 in H rated LTX M/S.

I have the LTX M/S 275/70-16 114H with 2365 lb at 44 psi and 666 rev/mile. This is the OEM tire for the LX and custom made for Lexus. It has a UTQG of 440 A A, so it is more performance oriented than the S rated tire.

The Pilot you mentioned is also OEM for Lexus in the 18 in size: Pilot LTX M/S 275/60-18 111H with 2185 lb at 35 psi and 673 rev/mile. Its UTQG is 400 A A.

For some strange reason my LX came with the S rated LTX from the dealer though the sticker says H rated. It must have changed when the wheels got chrome plated.

The S rated LTX seems to have less rolling resistance (slightly better MPG), but the H rated handles and rides better. If I was choosing tires again, I would still pick a 16" H rated LTX for general use. If I did a little more off roading I would look at the BFG TAKO, or the LTX A/T in 265/75-16.

The bridgestone dueller HT's in 275/60R18 are 672 revs per mile while the 275/65R18 are 649 revs/mile. So if the LTX's are 666 revs/mile, you are only about 2.5% off the OEM size!

My 275/70-16 OEM LTX M/S are 666 rev/mile. At 672 rev/mile for 275/60-18, the difference is less than 1% between the two. If SWUtah does not mind the lower load rating on the Pilots, then the difference of 1% is negligible.

Rev's for the 275/60/18's is 651 per my tire calculator?

I got my info from the Michelin site specific for the specified tires rather than a average calc for the size in general.

While the tire calculators give a good ballpark number for reference, they do not get to the specifics of the actual tire. Tire Rack has links to the mfg specs on the tires or you can access the mfg site directly to get the specific info on rev/mile along with other factors such as tread depth, rim size, actual width and height, etc.

Thanks, I went back and compared the numbers of the 275/65/18 REVO's - 649 rev's per mile and the 275/60/18 Pilot LTX - 673 rev's per mile. Equals about 3 1/2% difference and would extend my CPO warranty by about 2000 miles :). I would have to run this tire change by the Lexus service manager and get the sign off on it not impacting my warranty. On another note we are having a ice/sleet and snow storm and driving around on my half used Pilot LTX 275/60/18's it is as solid as driving on a dry road. Traction control has not even kicked in, so maybe after driving on these Michelins all winter I will just replace them next winter with the samething. Since my spare Pilot LTX has never been on the ground I would only need to buy 3 new tires and use one of the old ones as the spare.

The REV's per mile on your stock size LTX M/S in the 275/70/16 size 666 rev's is about the same size as the 285/60/18 Brigstone H/L Alenza's 661 rev's per mile, which would be a upgrade from my stock 275/60/18 Michelin LTX M/S. I guess it would be hard for Lexus to deny warranty coverage if you were using a tire that was with 5 REV's per mile of the tires they have been using on this same vehicle for 5 years prior to 2003???

It looks like the Alenza is essentially the same in revs/mile plus you get the better load rating. I doubt the Pilot 18" is a problem, but the Alenza looks like a good fit.

With swings in the industry of more than 10 revs/mile within the same tire size category, I can't imagine the dealer having a problem with 5 revs. I have not heard of a dealer having a problem with the tires unless they were major changes - e.g. lifted truck with monster tires. They may have questions about the tires, but any adverse warranty issues would be limited to those affected by the tires.

That's what I figure. I will still run the numbers by the service manager before I buy them, but that's several months off.

Michelin pilot ltx 275 60 r 18

no, but if you need another set i have 4 in my garage with 3k miles on them and will sale them for cheep. The cost about $1000 new.

hi ....can you confirm the condition of the tires you say you want to sell ....do you know the depth of the tread? Any patches or plugs?
Anyway you can take a picture of the tires ?
How much are you looking for the tires ?

Thanks gerard

Anyone know how these are in heavy snow on a 2003+ LX/LC? Not taking my rig off road, only to the mall, so I want quiet smooth and good traction in heavy snow. Anyone experience with these 18" Pilot LTX"s would be great.
Thanks

I've currently got the Mich LTX MS 275/60/18 on my 04 LC. They just safely took me over three 10k passes in Colorado during a big snowstorm. I have nothing to compare to, but they and the LC where very sure footed. It's a daily driver.

My next set will be the MS 2, but they no longer make them in stock size, I'll have to go up.

Be careful about warranty companies and different size tires, they love to deny a repair for any reason whatsoever!

Thanks, I ended up buying the Brigstone Alenza's in the same size. Great tires, I also think the new MS2's will be great tires. I have a FJ Cruiser and Toyota put "E" rated 265/75/16 BFG AT/KO's on it. They should be good for about 150K miles on the 4000 lb FJ, kind of over kill :)

I'm running a Michelin 275/70/18 in a LTX® A/T2 and I love them. Extremely quite ride and they have not let me down in mud/snow. The price wasnt cheap, but then again, nothing about an LC is... as I'm sure everyone knows. When the sh$% hits the fan, I want to be in my LC and heading for the hills.

Give these a shot, you won't be dissapointed.
