Hello fellow mudders, I have been trying to resolve this problem for a while now, and I cannot figure out what the issue is. My MFD keeps turning on and off, the clock just turns on and off every couple of seconds when the screen is black, when the screen is black the surrounding buttons do not work, the radio is the only thing that runs unaffected by the screen. To summarize everything in sequential order.
  • I purchased a tesla head unit from Alibaba and after installing it, I did not like how it was running. It was pretty much a piggyback on the original system, I just sent it back.

  • The problems started at this point, my MFD kept intermittently turning on and off. I believe the system I was trying to install short-circuited somewhere, the radio fuse was blown and was replaced. I checked all the other fuses one by one and could not find any issues with them.

It would stay on when the car was on for a while and then turn off. The buttons surrounding the screen did not work when the screen went black and the clock would flash every couple of seconds. When it does work all the buttons surround the screen and within the system work, including the heating and cooling. The radio works separately since it its own system.

  • I than tried another head unit from Phoenix, PX6, once again the brackets I received did not fit my truck, I just packed it back up and returned it.

  • At this point I tried repairing the screen myself, the pin 60 and the main capacitor, still no avail, so I sent my screen out for repair to AutoBeYours. Once I got the MFD back it still continued with the same symptoms.

  • I ordered a new main board for the MFD, and replaced it, still nothing.

At this point I hit a brick wall and just hung this project up out of frustration. I tried getting into the diagnostic menu and I did find it strange that under the System Check Mode, the items are all grayed out. Wondering if anyone here has come across this similar situation and possibly resolved it or can point me to a direction I should be looking.

Hi I didn't resolve it unfortunately. I may have to replace the whole head unit or go with some aftermarket unit.
