So yesterday I went on a little road trip to pick up some Metaltech sliders for my 97. The seller was parting out his 97 and I was able to get them for what I thought was a fair price. Today I tried to put them on and its a no go. My truck has OME 850/863 springs with control arm drop brackets. The forward leg of the DS slider will not clear the control arm drop bracket.

Has anyone else had this problem ? I'm not sure whether I need to cut out part of the CA bracket or do I need different brackets ?

It's a known issue with control arm drop brackets and almost every slider on the market.

The issue isn't with the Metal Tech Sliders. The issue is with the drop brackets. It's a well known issue. The sliders need to me modified slightly to work with the drop brackets.

Bummer man, sorry to hear that. Sliders looked good.

Just so nobody gets the wrong idea, these sliders are bad ass. I'm excited to have them, just not happy that I didn't realize the CA drop was going to be an issue. These are Man a Fre drop brackets. Can somebody tell me what needs to be modified to make these sliders fit. I can't imagine cutting into the slider bracket as there isn't much you could trim from that area without getting into the mounting hole. If someone has a picture of what they've done I would appreciate it.

You could cut and weld the control arm drops to the slider mount.

Yep I ran into the same problem. Took the drop brackets off and used caster correction plates instead.

Landtank caster plates are a good buy as well.

you can get 4plus sliders and they work beautifully!! no u bolts to mess with!! and removing the slider for service is a one man job...not that metal tech is bad but if you are planning on using what you have that is...

Landtank plates. Ditch the brackets. If your going to offroad those brackets get it the way...A LOT. So take it as the $ you saved on the sliders you purchase the plates and be all set.

Have to agree, correct the caster with plates and enjoy some sweet sliders. I <3 my MT sliders.

Scrowley, are you speaking from experience? I need caster correction and about to get some Man A Fre drop brackets.
I read some people said they had clearance issues and some say it's not a problem, has anyone here gotten hung up by the man a fre drop brackets?

I may have some brackets for sale soon. I'm thinking about calling slee and getting a set of the bushings and solving the problem at the axle end instead of the frame.
