Metal box behind front speaker (1 Viewer)

I'm sure this is probably automatic for some of you guys, but while working at my a/c behind the glove box, I found this little box behind the little speaker by the passenger vent. There are wires there but they aren't hooked up. Any ideas what they are, if they should be hooked up, or why they wouldn't be? Thanks.

That is your stock amp for your speakers.

Ok. That would make sense why they aren't hooked up. PO had installed a Scion stereo, so probably would have disconnected it. Thanks!

Correct, installation of the Scion head unit requires disconnecting this amp.
