member map :)

hello
i'm the webmaster of ~ S E R I E - 4 : le site du Club TLC Serie-4 France - TOYOTA LANDCRUISER 40 ~
we are testing now a member map, now my members can see who is near them, and have better contact and organize somes trip togethers...

for we created special member profile information that you have to fill up when you register on the forum
, and we extract thoses informations by phpmyadmin, in excel file.
To geolocalize those members, we use a free map, on MapAList - Create and Manage Maps of Address Lists, where you can make what you want to display the good informations .

for example, we'll make somes special marking for SERIE4 member, forum member, and special serie4 member who are part of the "garage & breakfast network", a special network that 'll help you to repair your landcruiser if you are 4wheeling far away from your home and have a problem !

could be nice to have this on ih8mud no ?, even if i don't live in USA (but i made the rubicon twice for those who don't know me)

I've looked at a number of ideas on this, but SO many folks are concerned about privacy that they are worried about participation and who might have access to their contact info.

Have talked with a programmer about it tho...they are busy with other projects right now, but it's been on their list to discuss more for months...

there is nothing on the map which show something about your private life, only nickname and city you live, after...only if you decided to be member of "garage&breakfast" your phone number 'll be displayed
