How's it going. Bought an FJ80 a couple months ago and I've had a run in with poor service at Reno Toyota, good experience with independent specialists in reno. I'm new to the area so I'm looking for a good mechanic to tackle the things I don't have time or am uncomfortable with on my rig.

Can anyone here recommend a top notch mechanic who knows their 80's inside and out? I've got a few nagging electrical issues https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=188261 (my dash tranny shift indicator light doesn't go out when I remove the key....nor does my climate control light I have pushed in turn off....have to pull and reinsert the dash fuse to get it to go off..... Also looking ahead to doing some mods.....

Please let me know what any of you know, itching to talk to someone who knows their stuff, maybe hand over some hard earned green.

Don't know of anybody that is an 80 specialist, however you can check with Jeremy at Asian Specialized, 775-786-0844. He is very honest and will let you know exactly what you are in for.

I would love to help you, but I suck at electrical. I am a mechanical guy.

Have you posted your problems up on the IH8mud 80's tech forum? That could save you some bucks and increase you knowledge base.

The only shop I use in town is Martins automotive, he was familiar with the IFS on my 100 so he may be versed in the 80 series as well.

There was a place over behind Folbecks on Glendale or around that area called Toy Auto Clinic. An old boss of mine used to take his 40 there but the guy didn't like working on 40's (what he told me when I stopped by) but did for him because he had been a customer since the early 80's. It's been 12+ years ago since that I tried that place.
