Realizing its been talked about in the events page but no thread started. I know its the day before but figured get some details in.

If you plan to attend please respond here so we have an idea of a head count we need to look for when in the staging area.

Figure, as usual, in the park by 8-830am on the trails by 830-9am.

If you can, fill out your waiver and pay for your day pass online to streamline things.

Look forward to seeing everyone there!

Looking forward to the reports. My junk almost ready for a shakedown.

I'm finally done cleaning the mud off my 60 so I can comment on the great trip we had Saturday. Avi, Ryan and I took our trucks into the western reserve of the park and explored some areas we hadn't been before. We first stopped at the Whaleback, a large rock formation that resembles a whale. We then continued along the southern edge of the reserve heading to the western most edge.
We went down Trail 141 which wasn't to bad until it had a gnarly hill climb at the end. I had to use my winch to assist myself getting up, just for Ryan and Avi to make it look easy! After that we headed to "The Sands" a large sand pit with a lake and trails all around. We found a beautiful lunch spot away from the dirt bikes, quads and their dust.
After lunch we found our way onto "Mud Road". While the 4runners opted to stay out of the pits, I couldn't resist hitting one of the deeper ones! My mud terrains did pretty good until the wall at the end of the pit. An assist from some v8 power and I was out! My throttle stuck wide open from the mud so a good hosing of brake clean from Avi was needed to clean the linkages up.
That was enough excitement for the day so we started heading back towards the trail head. We were looking to avoid mud for the rest of the day, but that proved difficult in that corner of the park. We finally found a relatively dry path and snaked our way through some tight trees until we found high ground and could cruise back to the parking lot.

Yes indeed Saturday was a great day in the woods. I got to see the entire property across the road and made my first trip through the new tunnel that takes you underneath route 901. Not a difficult day trail wise except for one nasty hill climb that required the use of a winch. Of course Derek and Jo had to play in the mud holes and that was interesting!!!! Ben a while since I saw a 60 that muddy!!!!!
Thanks to Avi for a comfortable seat in his 4 Runner I have a great appreciation for the capabilities of 4Runners. Ryan and Jessir just cruiser right along in their V8 4Runner it's quite the rig. All in all a great day at AOAA!

The new tunnel is really nice. We no longer have to dodge traffic to access the west side.
