Tower of murder baby.
So, I have this tape measure. Fancy ass "guaranteed forever " mastercraft, got it on sale 3 years ago for about 3 bucks.
had it replaced a few times...( I get a certain pleasure out of making crappy tire pay for putting a lifetime warranty on something stupid like a tape measure...)

anyways, I went in to get it replaced yet again, and I'm told that you need proof of purchase now to get any mastercraft tools replaced.

So, like I have a receipt for a 3 dollar tape measure. but what gets me is the number of wrenches and other tools I have in the garage. some bought years and years ago.

bit of a piss off. I have a 35 year old craftsman ratchet, that I periodically have to go into sears to get new guts for. no mention of proof of purchase.

one more reason to avoid that place I guess.

Pfft... Sears is no better. Last time I took a broken Craftsman wrench in for the "lifetime guarantee" they wouldn't replace it. Instead they gave me a rebuild kit for it. Thanks, but if I wanted to build my own tools I'd become a blacksmith.

What chafes me is that both Mastercraft and Craftsman are house brands. Why the hell do you need a receipt for either brand when they can only be purchsed from the store you're returning them to. It's not like taking a DeWalt drill to any number of dealers who offer them. If you own a Mastercraft tool, it came from Canadian Tire! You don't need a receipt!!

Yesterday I replaced a two year old beat up Mastercraft tool box simply because the hinge made a clicking sound that annoyed me, got a new and better one.

Two days before, I exchanged a non-Mastercraft power washer we bought last summer that no longer worked.

Both times no receipts, no problems. If they change this policy, they'll loose buyers.
