Ok, I need some help here. I'm shopping for a GPS receiver and software for use with both street navigation and off-road adventures. These would be used on my carputer and laptop, i.e. both have full-size hard-drives and adequate sized screens. I would LOVE to be able to say to the program, "I'm here, and sitting in traffic, find me an alternate route." That would probably the most used feature on the whole setup. LOL I was at circuit city last night and they have Microsoft Streets and Trips 2005 for $129.99 and it comes with the software AND the USB based GPS reciever. None of the other software I saw in the store had the reciever too. Is the Microsoft program worth a damn? It says that I can import names and addresses from Access and Outlook. I don't really use Outlook or Access, but with my new computer I plan to. It sounds like from the discussion above that I would need two programs, one for street navigation, and one for back roads/off-road navigation. Is this true? Also, does anyone know how much memory these maps take up? I have no problem allotting 1-2 GBs of HD space to this, but would rather not give up anymore. Thanks a bunch
Ary
P.S. I'm in VA and would primarily be using this in NC, VA, MD, WV, PA, etc. Basically the mid-atlantic region. However, I do plan to venture outside the area and would like to still have GPS capabilities.
