maps from AZ for BMAN

BMAN,
I think the general public can access these, but you may need to be affiliated with the AZ university system. Let me know the area your interested in, I may be able to help you or if you have any questions.

Ok, I need some help here. I'm shopping for a GPS receiver and software for use with both street navigation and off-road adventures. These would be used on my carputer and laptop, i.e. both have full-size hard-drives and adequate sized screens. I would LOVE to be able to say to the program, "I'm here, and sitting in traffic, find me an alternate route." That would probably the most used feature on the whole setup. LOL I was at circuit city last night and they have Microsoft Streets and Trips 2005 for $129.99 and it comes with the software AND the USB based GPS reciever. None of the other software I saw in the store had the reciever too. Is the Microsoft program worth a damn? It says that I can import names and addresses from Access and Outlook. I don't really use Outlook or Access, but with my new computer I plan to. It sounds like from the discussion above that I would need two programs, one for street navigation, and one for back roads/off-road navigation. Is this true? Also, does anyone know how much memory these maps take up? I have no problem allotting 1-2 GBs of HD space to this, but would rather not give up anymore. Thanks a bunch

Ary

P.S. I'm in VA and would primarily be using this in NC, VA, MD, WV, PA, etc. Basically the mid-atlantic region. However, I do plan to venture outside the area and would like to still have GPS capabilities.

Not this week BMAN

Hi BMAN,
I am not going to be able to make it up to Phoenix this week (I'm in Tucson). Besides, I would like to wait until I have my LC for my first trip up. I am looking and I suspect it will take awhile.
In the mean time, if you have any questions or need any help with digital maps let me know. I do a fair bit of this to put beans on my tortillas.
Hope to see you guys soon.

I just heard about an 80 in town that might be for sale soon. Kinda waiting to hear back from the guy though. If he calls me I'll get his info and point you in his direction. Supposed to be a relatively clean 91 or 92. Ran into his daughter at a buddy's Porsche shop, and she was telling me about the truck. I gave here my # and told her to have her dad call me. Fingers crossed that he'll actually call, but I'll let you know.

Thanks BMAN,

I am looking pretty hard and my wife is starting to make jokes about obsessive-compulsive behavior. I am looking usual places and I have an auto broker looking as well. The broker said give him a week. I think he is an optomist, but with luck sometime in 2005 I'll find something. Anyone want to trade a locked FJZ for a POS 1996 2WD Dodge Ram?
