Yep, definitely the best way to do it.
I've seen this question asked about many cars, usually by people wanting to go the other way. Unless the car is old and essentially a project car, a tranny swap is not a good idea. Even if successful, it will be expensive and destroy your resale value.
Much cheaper and more effective to trade. For minimal financial impact, try to find an owner who has an automatic and wants a manual.
