Trying to find somewhere to mount a phone holder, I stuck a suction mount to the screen(don’t do this)…..well, trying gently to pull the damn thing off, it happened….crrrrrrack…not gently enough it seems. It’s still mostly functional but has plenty of dead spots now. If I manage to find a used unit, are these plug and play or will it require dealer coding to make it work? Not sure of other options, searching shows the Tesla style kits but they seem to not work 100% with everything factory.

Vehicle in question is a 2014 LC

Thanks for any info!

If you want all the current functionality including exterior cameras, etc. then get OEM used, new, or keep what you have.
If you want Tesla style display (replaces both the radio and the climate controls) and willing to lose some of the factory integration (the main stuff remains functional) get this [ PX6 SIX-CORE ] 13.6" Android 9 Fast boot Vertical Screen Navi Radio for Lexus LX570 2008-2015 - https://phoenixautomotiveinc.com/products/px6-six-core13-6-android-9-0-fast-boot-vertical-screen-navi-radio-for-lexus-lx570-2008-2015?_pos=1&_sid=ab77cea96&_ss=r
There are posts here about install, what you lose, what you gain, how to add back some of the stuff you lose.

Thanks for the tips…..
I’ll look more into this over the weekend:

Hoping it’s similar to this post for the 100’s:

I would absolutely do this, or pay them to do it. There is no good reason to pay thousands to get the crappy factory screen replaced when it can be fixed for so much less.

My vote (obviously) - replace just the MFD - cheap and easy to do! Screen is perfect and install was easy. Only slightly crap part is disconnecting the ribbon cable locks.

Well I decided to take it apart to get the part info on the screen. I haven’t been able to find the type that’s in there anywhere other than aliexpress and a couple of other random shops in China, so it’ll probably take several weeks to get one if I go that route, and they’re about $200, that’s for the lcd with the touch screen. I haven’t been able to find just the digitizer alone, the one I posted above isn’t like the one in mine. I’ll call some of these nav screen repair places next week and ask some questions, maybe they can get just the screen and install it. I went ahead and put it back together and reinstalled it. Happy it all still works, still broke but no worse off. And only two screws leftover!
I’ll update with any progress.
Thanks again for the tips!

I just read your other post again, impressed it only took five days. I might go that route, that seller also has my part # on aliexpress. It’s got the same part#..the LT80#, but says for Lexus, hoping the vehicle specific stuff isn’t loaded in the display. I’ll find out I guess if it boots up and thinks it’s a Lexus car…

Dealer will replace for $1200 out the door.

That sounds like an exchange unit as opposed to a new one. Toyota has had an exchange repair program for a long time. Standard failures, not involving external damage are a flat charge. In my experience visibly-damaged units (like this one) would be shipped to the repair vendor and inspected first to generate an estimate. The dealer would then be advised of the cost to repair it, provided parts are available.

Of course it is possible that these days broken screens are also a flat charge. I retired before just about everything got a screen of some sort.

eBay is your friend on this one. Had to replace the rear seat screen once on our ‘14. Got lucky and found one for $600 off eBay that was perfect vs the $4500-$6000 new price. Doubt it’ll require a dealer to re-code since all 13-15 are identical.

Yes an exchange but that is with labor included.
I left out the part about a core charge...

I have also seen just the glass part of the screen on Ebay for relatively cheap.

Enjoy your retirement!

Just to update. My new screen came in last week and I installed over the weekend. Very happy that all is back to normal and working as it should. Screen was brand new and identical to the one I removed(except it isn’t broken
). Took me an hour or two at most and about $220. Also I’ve found a phone mount that sits in the cd slot works perfect for me(wish I’d have figured that out sooner).

Thanks for the tips!

I hope you added CarPlay while everything was out
