I have a 1988 4Runner and a BJ-60 Landcruiser from Canada. After much debating I decided that the 4Runner was just begging for the diesel engine and Landcruiser drivetrain. At first I was thinking of selling the 4Runner and buying a nice clean state side FJ-60, but hell I have had this 4Runner though too many adventures, plus I wanted one ever since they came on the market when I was 5, I remember staring out the car windows at them thinking how cool they were before I ever knew what kinda car it even was.

Has anyone swapped a 3B and Landcruiser drivertrain into a 4Runner, pick-up, or Hilux? I was thinkin of making leaf spring mounts to use the Landcruiser springs and axles as is, rather than modifying the Landcruiser axles to bolt onto the 4Runner.

I have a bj60 that's really rusty and would love to swap the drivetrain over to a mini truck. the only thing i have heard is make sure you keep all the wiring and gauges from the 60...apparantly that simplifies things a lot? i would love some more information as well
thanks

Measure the hieghts of both engines, should fit pretty easy tho.

I have often thought about this swap also and if you wanted to retain the tcase off the cruiser you will have to use the cruisers offset axle.

Or spend a bit of cash and stick on marlins crawler case and mate up the mini truck tcase off the back?

Ideas, lets keep em going......

i think weight might be a problem? Or is that the reason you are thinking of using the LC axls.

3B is a 4-cyl, correct? You planning on swapping the axles, too? You'll have to out-board the spring hangers up front a bit, do all of the engineering to move all of the components over, fuel system (sender, etc), fuel lines, etc.

Can it be done? Sure. Easy? Nope.
