Chains can be noisy (start up rattle) but there is a spring/oil pressure actuated chain tensioner to take care of adjustment, once under proper tension no noise problem.

Kalawang what are you driving? I would have assumed an 80 since you are in the 80's section, witch engine?

I have a 1990 1HD-T LC80. I like it and it's reasonably common in my area.

I know about the tensioners, and chains are good in that the noise gets louder as they wear. Belts make no noise as far as I can see so you have to anticipate them even if the LC has a T-belt alarm. I usually change 10K before schedule to avoid surprises. Come to think of it, maybe chains are better as at least there is an audible warning when you get near the end.

Kalawang

1HD-T Cool diesel! not common at all around here. The US Spec. 80's sport the 1FZ-FE petrol Engine's.
