God damn that tongue is gorgeous!! So you took the stock tongue a-frame and moved out to the front edge of the trailer bed. Genius.

That's also exactly how my bed is cut. I'm curious to see how you make the frame. As you now know, the bed is not very rigid with the tailgate cut out.

I'm going to turn my trailer into this one.

Are you going to cut out the old tongue mounts on the inner frame? They seem like the'd just catch dirt.

Good question/catch... Really depends how the suspension will be set up. At first I was just going to leave it but you are correct, it really will catch some dirt so probably just best to cut them off...

Looks good! Don't forget to make another landing skid for it once you have the final height sorted out. I used rectangular tubing and a bent piece of plate for it, works fine.

Yes definitely in the works too. I actually kind of like how it's set up from the factory so probably some sort of retention of this system too... And one more big reason I kept the stock tongue...

It's looking good.
I'm curious also as to how you plan to reinforce the bed since you cut in the tailgate. I havn't cut my tailgate in yet and am debating on having an external brace like a triangle or some sort of brace in the bed.

If you can get the right length without making it too springy, that would work fine. I extended my trailer behind the stock tongue casting, that's a great integrated mechanism that I didn't want to give up.

sorry just had the film festival last week and have friends coming in. Been a crazy couple weeks. Should have updates shortly though, next week some time with luck.. Thanks guys, A

Excellent looking build! Keep up the good work!

The M614 is the manufactures part number. How the trailer was identified to the civilian community who built the trailers is different than the military identification. The M416 is the military designation of it. :)

cheers,

dale

that suspension is awesome! is it duplicate-able?

That thing is a regular "work of art"!!!

Nice pic...looks very rugged

Wow, just wow. I stripped down my trailer and have painted the bottom + fenders after stripping them because I know that's the only part of the trailer I won't modify any further.

Excellent work, and I'm going to steal your tailgate design because mine is already cut the same way.
