Has anyone taken out the factory roof rails on the LX600/700h? Not the biggest fan of what is available from dissent or prinsu. It seems the 300 series LC shares the same mounting style but just the roof rail trim is different. The roof racks abroad seem to mount to the actual roof rather than the roof rail.

Not advisable.

From what I remember when I last looked at this, you'll have to disassemble the roof, roof liner, etc to unbolt the roof rails.

Prinsu does require drilling into the roof rails, Dissent does not. Dissent clamps on to the existing roof rails.

However trying to get anything form Dissent is proving (to me atleast) a pain in the boot. They will not sell or ship anything to me, or through any local authorized dealer.

I swear, once I have time, i should design one.

Wow that is wild that headliner needs to be removed to remove the roof rails. I was hoping or something along the lines of the LC250 or GX550 where it can be taken out if done very carefully without dropping the headliner.

Prinsu and Wescott are drill and bolt.

Hmm I thought the Wescott didn't use drilling? They don't have instructions so I was just looking at this image, which appears the feet mount to the factory drilled holes on the inside sides of the factory rails?

Those feet don't look like they line up with the factory holes. Not sure though...

These brackets *look* like they bolt right on top of the rail.

I asked Westcott and they said "it does not require drilling, but it is a lengthy process. you do need to drop the headliner."

Just an fyi for folks still looking for a roof platforms. Thule will be updating or releasing new Caprock platforms. Expected release date July 2026.

That's great, hope it comes with LX compatible feet like the previous gen.

Why nothing from Front Runner yet. Installation on my 200 was a piece of cake and it was a great product. No way I am pulling the headliner.

need some feedback from folks here.

I have decided to get the Front Runner Slimline Roof rack. Front Runner customer service confirmed LC300 model should work with LX700 as roof assembly is similar, but they have not fitted it to LX700. Rack costs around $1900.

I did my research to check LX700h and LC300 roof assembly, they both seem to have same roof setup.

LX700 does require lowering of headliner but with following parts it looks like supported roof platforms can be connected using the bolts from the top.

I have worked with local Lexus approved body shop which give me an estimate of $1000 to lower the roof liner and install the bracket and retainers. With this option I will need to install the Slimline roof platform myself or later connect with roof rack installer.

local 4X4 shop give me an estimate of $1800 to install the brackets/retainer, and also the roof rack.

Wanted to get feedback on this effort

a. should I go ahead even with this effort. Seems like no one has actually installed the roof bracket/retainer or this roof rack on LX700h.
b. Are installation cost reasonable.
c. any other watch outs.

Based on my research and similar setup for LX600, I have high level of confidence this should work as expected.

I'd pay someone to do it.

I'd do Dissent's rather than drop the headliner.

Agreed. I ordered the dissent and it will be here in a couple of weeks. No reason to drop the headliner if you don’t have to. Also seems silly to have to pay to have a roof rack installed.
